Meet Andy our Resident PGA Professional

Our PGA Professional is Andrew (Andy) Koureas he has been with us for more than 10 years. Andy has been a full-time PGA Professional for 35 years. During his career Andy has regularly played the Australian and New Zealand PGA circuits. Andy spent 7 years as a full-time Teaching Professional in Western and Northern New South Wales worked as a resident Professional for more than 25 years. Andy worked 12 of those years at The Willows Golf Club in Townsville, Queensland, where he was also the founding Professional, on leaving The Willows, Andy came to Tamborine Mountain Golf Club. Andy competed in the Australian Open on 9 occasions. He lead the second round of the Open in 1983. He rubbed shoulders at the Open with golfing megastars such as Nicklaus, Trevino, Player and Norman. Andy played the Asian circuit which included tournament in Singapore, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Malaysia, Taiwan and Thailand amongest others. Andy started golf as an official Bonnie Doon Caddy at the age of 10. That allowed Andy to play Bonnie Doon, free of charge, 3 days a week. As a Schoolboy Golfer Andy was tutored by 2 of Australias then top Professionals Wally Gale and Mike Kelly. During his 4 year Schoolboy Golfer career Andy won in the order of 16 tournaments. At age 15 he joined the Club as a Junior this allowed him to also play in Senior Tournaments. At age 20 Andy registered as an Trainee Golfer and was soon rewarded with a National Invite to play in Australia-wide competitions. Andy also won 14 Tournaments as a Trainee.
